Cervical vertebrae are the bones present in the neck. Abnormal fusion of these bones causes a disease condition named Klippel-Feil Syndrome (KFS). The main features of this condition are a fusion of the cervical vertebrae which limits the movement of the neck, a short neck, and a low hairline at the back of the neck. In the case of pain, over-the-counter painkillers are used. Surgery is performed incase of involvement of the nervous system including the brain and spinal cord, unstable spine, muscle weakness, and abnormalities in other organs.
